Avec Jack the Toad, Savoy Brown inaugure un nouveau chapitre de son histoire. Après le départ de Dave Walker, c’est Jackie Lynton qui prend le micro, apportant un style plus cru et terre-à-terre. Le groupe conserve son ancrage blues-rock, mais se laisse aussi aller à quelques touches boogie et hard rock. Bien qu’un peu inégal, l’album présente plusieurs moments forts, notamment sur les titres « Coming Down Your Way » et « Everybody Loves a Drinking Man ».

Jack the Toad marks a new era for Savoy Brown. With Jackie Lynton replacing Dave Walker on vocals, the band takes on a grittier, more grounded sound. While staying rooted in blues-rock, the album also ventures into boogie and early hard rock territories. Though uneven in places, it delivers strong moments, especially on “Coming Down Your Way” and “Everybody Loves a Drinking Man”.
