Troisième album studio du groupe, At Your Birthday Party paraît en mars 1969 et marque un moment de transition dans l'histoire de Steppenwolf. C’est le dernier album à réunir la formation classique avec Michael Monarch à la guitare solo. Released in March 1969, At Your Birthday Party is Steppenwolf’s third studio album and marks a period of transition. The album maintains the band’s trademark hard blues-rock energy, while exploring darker and more rugged sonic textures. It’s the final record to feature lead guitarist Michael Monarch. Tracks like It's Never Too Late, Jupiter’s Child, and Rock Me showcase a rich variety of moods, from thunderous rock to psychedelic introspection.
Though less celebrated than its predecessors, this album remains a key entry in the band’s catalogue.
