Please est un projet studio éphémère né à Manille en 1976 sous l'impulsion de Mike Hanopol, figure majeure de la scène Pinoy Rock philippine. Le groupe n'existe pas en tant que formation stable : Manila Thriller est un album unique, conçu comme un laboratoire sonore collectif, réunissant musiciens et producteurs autour d’un disque aux allures de manifeste. L’album fut publié à très faible tirage, dans un contexte musical effervescent mais politiquement tendu (loi martiale de Marcos), ce qui contribua à sa disparition quasi immédiate. Redécouvert dans les années 2000, Manila Thriller fascine par sa fusion inclassable entre funk psychédélique, satire sociale et excentricités tropicales.

Please was a short-lived studio project born in Manila in 1976 under the artistic guidance of Mike Hanopol, a central figure in the Philippine Pinoy Rock movement. Not a traditional band, Please was more of a collaborative alias for a single, highly eclectic and experimental record: Manila Thriller. Blending funk grooves, psychedelic textures and satirical flair, the album was released in extremely limited quantities during a politically repressive time. Long forgotten, it was revived in the 2000s by collectors and now stands as a cult artifact of tropical psych-funk.
