Gospel Oak est un groupe britannique formé à la fin des années 60, dont le nom provient d’un quartier du nord de Londres. Malgré cette origine, leur unique album paru en 1970 évoque fortement le folk-rock et le country-rock californiens, avec des teintes blues et une ambiance laid-back. Projet essentiellement studio, Gospel Oak réunit des musiciens chevronnés issus de la scène folk-rock anglaise, certains ayant collaboré avec Al Stewart ou Elton John. L’album, chaleureux et bien produit, est sorti exclusivement aux États-Unis et n’a bénéficié d’aucune promotion majeure. Le groupe se dissout peu après, sans autre trace discographique connue.

Gospel Oak was a short-lived British band named after a North London neighborhood, but their music is steeped in American influences, especially California folk-rock, country-blues, and laid-back electric grooves. A studio-only project featuring seasoned musicians from the London scene — some of whom had worked with artists like Al Stewart and Elton John — the band released just one self-titled album in 1970 on Kapp Records (US only). Warm, melodic, and finely produced, Gospel Oak disappeared unnoticed but has since gained a cult following among lovers of West Coast-inspired British rock.
