Formé à Londres à la fin des années 1960 sous le nom de Tuesday’s Children, Czar est un groupe dont l’évolution musicale est fascinante. Après avoir commencé dans le genre pop psychédélique légère avec des singles tels que “Summer Leaves Me With a Sigh”, le groupe opère un virage radical à la fin des années 1960. Se rebaptisant Czar en 1969, il adopte un son beaucoup plus sombre, lourd et expérimental, inspiré des groupes tels que King Crimson, Atomic Rooster et The Nice. Le groupe publie son unique album éponyme en 1970, un mélange de rock progressif et de hard rock orchestral. Malgré la qualité de cet album, le groupe ne reçoit pas de soutien promotionnel suffisant et se dissout peu après sa sortie.

Formed in London in the late 1960s under the name Tuesday’s Children, Czar underwent a radical transformation in 1969. Moving away from their early psychedelic pop sound, they became a darker, heavier, and more experimental progressive rock band, drawing inspiration from groups like King Crimson, Atomic Rooster, and The Nice. Their self-titled album, released in 1970, is a fusion of proto-symphonic progressive rock and hard rock with orchestral touches. Despite its high quality, the band did not receive sufficient promotional support and disbanded shortly after the album's release.
