Meredith Brooks - Blurring The Edges (1997)

This first album of the singer and guitarist Meredith Brooks was a great success - especially with the super-tube that was 'Bitch'. The artist develops here very classic pop sounds, as in 'What Would Happen', but it also gives us appreciate innovative sounds, as in 'I Watched You Fall' or 'Pollyanne'. There is even a very electro song: 'Shatter'. Another title, like 'I Need', is a beautiful synthesis between pop and electro. Meredith Brooks delights us with her voice, a really powerful effectiveness ( 'Bitch', 'Somedays'), and beautiful ballads - such as 'Stop' - but also for her musical qualities, especially with the brilliant solo 'It do not get better'.

Ce premier album de la chanteuse et guitariste américaine Meredith Brooks fut un grand succès - notamment avec le super-tube que fut 'Bitch'. L'artiste développe ici des sonorités pop très classiques, comme dans 'What Would Happen', mais elle nous donne aussi à apprécier des sons innovants, comme dans 'I Watched You Fall' ou 'Pollyanne'. Il y a même un morceau très électro : 'Shatter'. Un autre titre, comme 'I Need', représente une jolie synthèse entre pop et électro.

Meredith Brooks nous ravit avec sa voix, d'une efficacité vraiment percutante ('Bitch', 'Somedays'), et de superbes ballades - comme par exemple 'Stop' - mais aussi pour ses qualités de musicienne, notamment avec le brillant solo de 'It don't get better'.
