Aunt Mary - Aunt Mary (1970)

Among the many formations abandoned in the wake of the great progressive pioneers, Aunt Mary can not be the most memorable beyond his Norwegian homeland. His three albums released in the early seventy years are all attempts to adapt to different currents in vogue at the time. It is so light rock, jazz and stirring of the school of Canterbury, of the most imposing volcanic and Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and finally symphonic digressions Yes. The songs of this first opus, sometimes fresh and catchy, sometimes more languorous and declamatory, benefit solos flutiers and other organs tablecloths in vogue at the time.

Parmi les nombreuses formations abandonnées dans le sillage des grands pionniers progressistes, Aunt Mary ne saurait se révéler la plus mémorable au-delà de sa patrie norvégienne. Ses trois albums parus au début des années soixante-dix constituent autant de tentatives d’adaptation à différents courants en vogue à l’époque. Il s’agit alors du rock léger, remuant et jazzy de l’école de Canterbury, de celui plus imposant et volcanique d’Emerson, Lake & Palmer, et enfin des digressions symphonistes de Yes. Les chansons de ce premier opus, tantôt fraiches et entrainantes, tantôt plus langoureuses et déclamatoires, bénéficient de soli flutiers et autres nappes d’orgues en vogue à l’époque.
