Second et dernier album du groupe Bobby & The Midnites, Where the Beat Meets the Street paraît en 1984, toujours sous la houlette de Bob Weir, guitariste et chanteur des Grateful Dead. L’orientation musicale penche ici davantage vers un rock FM typique des années 80, enrichi d’éléments funk, pop et new wave, avec des sonorités plus produites et synthétiques. Released in 1984, Where the Beat Meets the Street is the second and final album from Bobby & The Midnites, Bob Weir’s side project. This time, the band leans more into the polished production values of 1980s AOR and funk-rock, incorporating synths and pop sensibilities. While less raw and improvisational than the debut, the album showcases the band’s professional musicianship and Bob Weir’s willingness to explore new stylistic horizons beyond the Grateful Dead universe.
