Originaire de Saskatoon (Saskatchewan), The Sheepdogs se distinguent par leur rock roots vibrant, puisant dans le southern-rock, le boogie et le blues-rock. En 2011, alors encore indépendants, ils remportent un concours organisé par Rolling Stone et deviennent le premier groupe non signé à figurer en couverture du magazine, attirant l’attention internationale .

Paru le 4 septembre 2012, The Sheepdogs est leur premier album sur grand label (Atlantic), produit par Patrick Carney (The Black Keys) et Austin Scaggs, avec un mix réalisé par Tchad Blake à Nashville

Formed in Saskatoon, The Sheepdogs gained fame with a classic rock-inspired sound rooted in southern, boogie, and blues rock. In 2011, as an unsigned act, they won a Rolling Stone contest, becoming the first unsigned band to grace the magazine's cover .

Their self-titled major-label debut, released on September 4, 2012 via Atlantic Records, was produced by Patrick Carney (drummer of The Black Keys) and Austin Scaggs, and mixed by Tchad Blake in Nashville.
