Atlanta Rhythm Section’s self-titled debut, released in 1972, introduces the smooth, soulful blend of Southern rock that would become their trademark. Comprised of seasoned session players from Doraville’s Studio One, the band delivers a polished yet exploratory record, rich in instrumental interplay and mellow grooves. Though not a commercial hit, the album set the tone for the band's evolving artistry and eventual success in the Southern rock pantheon.
