From the unlikely psychedelic breeding ground of Indianapolis, brothers David and Brian Zerfas created a singular psychedelic artifact with their 1973 self-titled album. Released on the tiny 700 West label, Zerfas blends shimmering organ lines, searing guitar leads, Beatlesque harmonies, and a DIY production that gives it both charm and gravity. The record offers a deeply trippy yet melodic journey, drawing comparisons to The Pretty Things, Kaleidoscope, or even Pink Floyd’s early works. Though barely distributed in its time, the album has since become a cult classic among psych collectors and is often cited as one of the finest examples of post-60s American psychedelia.
