Originaire de l’Ohio, Poobah est un groupe fondé en 1972 par Jim Gustafson, guitariste-chanteur passionné par le heavy rock naissant. Dès leur premier album Let Me In, Poobah pose les bases d’un hard rock musclé et fuzzé, entre Blue Cheer, Grand Funk et Black Sabbath. Le disque s’impose comme un trésor brut du rock underground américain, avec ses riffs lourds, sa voix habitée et un son garage à souhait. Poobah, hailing from Youngstown, Ohio, was formed in 1972 by guitarist/vocalist Jim Gustafson. Their debut album Let Me In quickly earned cult status in underground rock circles for its heavy, fuzz-drenched riffs, bluesy grit, and psychedelic overtones. Drawing comparisons to early Grand Funk, Blue Cheer, and Sabbath, Poobah offered a raw and unfiltered slice of proto-metal that gained recognition decades later as a lost gem of 70s heavy rock. Gustafson’s passionate vocals and blazing guitar work define this powerful debut.
