Chris Youlden est un chanteur et auteur-compositeur britannique, né le 1ᵉʳ janvier 1943 à Dagenham (Essex). Il se fait connaître comme voix charismatique du groupe Savoy Brown de 1967 à 1970, participant à quatre albums majeurs du blues rock britannique. En 1973, il entame une carrière solo et publie Citychild l’année suivante sur le label London Records. Ce deuxième opus affirme sa personnalité musicale : un savant mélange de blues, de jazz, de soul et de funk, porté par sa voix chaude et expressive. Moins connu que ses travaux avec Savoy Brown, Citychild reste une pièce maîtresse du blues anglais des années 1970.

Chris Youlden, born January 1, 1943 in Dagenham, England, is best known as the lead vocalist for British blues rock band Savoy Brown from 1967 to 1970. After leaving the band, he launched a solo career, releasing Nowhere Road in 1973 and Citychild in 1974. The latter showcases Youlden’s distinctive voice and genre-blending songwriting, incorporating blues, jazz, and funk influences. Although it received limited commercial attention, Citychild stands as a testament to Youlden’s talent and his lasting contribution to British blues.
