Bobby Whitlock est un chanteur, pianiste et compositeur américain né le 18 mars 1948 à Memphis, Tennessee. Issu d’une famille religieuse, il commence très jeune à jouer de la musique et intègre les studios Stax dès l’adolescence. Il se fait connaître auprès du grand public en rejoignant Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, où il collabore avec Eric Clapton. Cette rencontre déterminante conduit à la formation de Derek and the Dominos en 1970. Sur l’album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, il coécrit des titres emblématiques comme “Bell Bottom Blues” ou “Keep on Growing”. Après la dissolution du groupe, il se lance en solo avec un premier album éponyme en 1972, marqué par une fusion de rock, gospel et soul sudiste, et soutenu par des musiciens de renom.

Born March 18, 1948, in Memphis, Tennessee, Bobby Whitlock is an American singer, songwriter, and keyboardist best known for his work with Derek and the Dominos. Raised in a religious household, he began playing music early and worked at Stax Records during his teens. He rose to prominence performing with Delaney & Bonnie, where he met Eric Clapton. The two later formed Derek and the Dominos, producing the legendary Layla and Other Assorted Love Songsalbum. Whitlock co-wrote many tracks and provided soulful vocals and organ lines. In 1972, he released his debut solo album, Bobby Whitlock, a rich blend of rock, gospel, and Southern soul, with guest appearances by Clapton, George Harrison, and other notable musicians.
