Sorti quelques mois seulement après The Idiot, Lust for Life est le deuxième album solo d’Iggy Pop, coécrit et coproduit avec David Bowie, qui l’accompagne également aux claviers. Plus direct, nerveux et rock que son prédécesseur, l’album marque un retour aux sources pour l’ex-leader des Stooges. La chanson-titre, avec son riff de batterie devenu emblématique, est un hymne jubilatoire à la liberté et à l’excès. L’ensemble du disque alterne entre énergie brute et sophistication new wave, consolidant Iggy comme figure centrale du proto-punk et icône durable du rock indépendant.

De l'agressivité de 'Lust For Life' à la terreur de 'Neighborhood Threat', en passant par la nonchalance entraînante de 'The Passenger' ou la folie de 'Success', Iggy Pop jette ici les bases d'un rock nouveau, qui gueule et fait du bien, en pleine effervescence punk des années 70 ! On retrouve ici la matière brute qui fait marcher Iggy  : rock et électricité. Released just months after The Idiot, Lust for Life is Iggy Pop’s second solo album and a cornerstone of his post-Stooges career. Co-written and co-produced with David Bowie—who also plays keyboards throughout—the record showcases a punchier, rockier sound. The title track has become one of Iggy’s signature anthems, driven by a relentless drum beat and manic energy. The album balances raw rock ’n’ roll with a subtle sophistication, confirming Iggy’s status as both a punk pioneer and a genre-defying artist.

The aggressiveness of 'Lust For Life' on terror 'Neighborhood Threat', through the rousing 'The Passenger' carelessness or folly of Success', Iggy Pop here throws the foundations of a new rock, who yelled and feels good, in full punk effervescence of the 70s! Here we find the raw material which operates Iggy: rock and electricity. Written in collaboration with David Bowie -The Dandy-, the album is very silky, worked and prodigious vocal harmonies.
