Vinegar Joe was a British blues-rock band formed in 1971, featuring powerhouse vocalists Elkie Brooks and Robert Palmer, along with guitarist and producer Pete Gage. Their second LP, Speed Queen of Ventura (1972), delivers a high-energy mix of soul, rock, and rhythm & blues, carried by gritty vocals, tight arrangements, and fiery guitar work. Though short-lived, the band laid the groundwork for the successful solo careers of its core members, and remains a cult favorite of early 70s UK rock.
