Originaires d’Arkansas mais installés à Detroit, The Detroit Emeralds font partie de la scène soul du début des années 70. Avec You Want It, You Got It, leur second album paru chez Westbound Records en 1972, le trio composé de Abrim, Ivory et James Tilmon livre un condensé de soul suave, teintée de funk naissant. Le titre phare, "Baby Let Me Take You (In My Arms)", connaîtra un large succès (Top 10 R&B), devenant un classique des pistes de danse et des samples hip-hop ultérieurs. Hailing from Arkansas but based in Detroit, The Detroit Emeralds were a soul trio active in the early 1970s.
