Formé à Southport (Angleterre) en 1996, Gomez s’est d’abord fait connaître par son approche éclectique mêlant rock alternatif, folk, blues et psychédélisme. Lauréat du Mercury Prize en 1998 avec Bring It On, le groupe développe une identité sonore riche portée par plusieurs voix principales.
