Quatermass est un power-trio progressif londonien formé en 1969, composé de J. Peter Robinson (claviers), John Gustafson (basse et chant) et Mick Underwood (batterie). Signé sur Harvest, leur unique album éponyme sort en mai 1970, produit par Anders Henriksson. L'orgue Hammond tient ici une place prépondérante, soutenu par des arrangements de cordes ambitieux, notamment sur « Laughin’ Tackle ». Malgré un accueil commercial timide, cet album est rapidement devenu une référence culte du rock progressif à dominante clavier.

Formed in London in 1969, Quatermass was a keyboard-driven progressive rock power trio featuring J. Peter Robinson (keys), John Gustafson (bass/vocals), and Mick Underwood (drums). Signed to Harvest, their only self-titled album was released in May 1970, produced by Anders Henriksson. Dominated by Hammond organ and enhanced by lush string arrangements (notably on “Laughin’ Tackle”), the record achieved cult status despite modest initial sales.
