Originaire de Newcastle upon Tyne, Lindisfarne voit le jour en 1968 autour du chanteur et compositeur Alan Hull, figure centrale du groupe. Avec leur folk rock chaleureux, teinté de pop, d'humour et de conscience sociale, Lindisfarne devient rapidement l’un des groupes phares de la scène britannique du début des années 70.

Sorti en 1971, leur deuxième album Fog on the Tyne propulse le groupe sur le devant de la scène avec un son à la fois accessible et authentique. Hymne à la vie du nord-est de l’Angleterre, le disque mêle ballades poignantes, refrains fédérateurs et instrumentation acoustique soignée (mandoline, violon, flûte). L’album atteint la première place des charts UK en 1972, porté par des morceaux devenus cultes comme "Meet Me on the Corner". Un incontournable du folk rock britannique.

Hailing from Newcastle upon Tyne, Lindisfarne was formed in 1968 with singer-songwriter Alan Hull at its core. Blending warm folk rock with pop sensibility, social awareness, and northern charm, they quickly became one of the UK’s most beloved bands of the early 1970s.

Their second album Fog on the Tyne (1971) catapulted them into national fame. Mixing heartfelt ballads, sing-along anthems, and acoustic instrumentation like mandolin and flute, the album paints a vivid portrait of working-class life in the north of England. It reached number one on the UK Albums Chart in 1972, driven by the hit "Meet Me on the Corner". A cornerstone of British folk rock.
