Strawberry Path - When The Raven Has Come To The Earth (1971)

Strawberry Path, a japanese progressive rock band,  shot only one album - 'When The Raven Has Come To The Earth' (1971). In this work, Shigeru could play multi-instruments at the same time (a keyboard by his left hand, a guitar by his right hand, a bass pedal by his feet!). Influenced of Jimi Hendrix or lots of British progressive artists, he tried to shoot the psychedelic and progressive style with Hiro's jazzy and freaky drumming. At an opening performance of the Pink Floyd Japan tour, Shigeru and Hiro persuaded Masayoshi Takanaka (bass) to join them...after a month, these three talented players changed their outfit name from Strawberry Path to Flied Egg.

Dans cet opus, Shigeru jouait plusieurs instruments en même temps (un clavier à la main gauche, une guitare à la main droite, une pédale basse à ses pieds!). Influencé par Jimi Hendrix ou de nombreux artistes progressistes britanniques, il a essayé d'aborder le style psychédélique et progressif avec la batterie jazzy et bizarre de Hiro. Lors de la tournée d'ouverture de Pink Floyd au Japon, Shigeru et Hiro ont persuadé Masayoshi Takanaka (basse) de se joindre à eux ... après un mois, ces trois joueurs talentueux ont changé leur nom de Strawberry Path à Flied Egg.

After All - After All (1969)

After All may have only been a band in the loosest sense of the term, but its only record is a quite wonderful one-shot relic of the transitional late-'60s. The four members of the combo were actually friends and acquaintances in different bands on the Tallahassee, FL, rock circuit before culling their skills together, along with lyrical assistance from young local poet and songwriter Linda Hargrove, when an opportunity to record an album in a Nashville studio presented itself. The resulting piece of work is the type of strangely compelling hybrid album that could only have come together in the musical gumbo of the post-psychedelic era. Drummer and primary vocalist Mark Ellerbee wrote most of the music. Each band member displays near virtuosity on his instrument, which allows After All to harness all its sonic influences and renders the music exciting to hear even when the songwriting drags the slightest bit or loses its way.

After All peut n'avoir été qu'un groupe au sens le plus commun du terme, mais son unique disque est une très belle relique de la transition musicale qu'a connu la fin des années 60. Les quatre membres du combo étaient en fait des amis ou des connaissances dans différents groupes du circuit rock de Tallahassee, en Floride, avant de s'entraîner ensemble, avec l'aide lyrique de la jeune poétesse et compositrice locale Linda Hargrove. Puis l'occasion d'enregistrer un album dans un studio de Nashville s'est présenté. La pièce magistrale qui en résulte est le type d'album hybride étrangement convaincant qui ne pouvait s'être réuni que dans le gumbo musical de l'ère post-psychédélique. Le batteur et chanteur principal Mark Ellerbee a écrit la plupart de la musique. Chaque membre du groupe montre une quasi-virtuosité sur son instrument, ce qui permet à After All d'exploiter toutes ses influences sonores et rend la musique excitante à entendre même lorsque l'écriture des chansons traîne quelque peu ou perd son chemin.

The Rhythm Dukes emerged in 1969, founded by Moby Grape’s Jerry Miller and Don Stevenson. Soon joined by Bill Champlin (from the Sons of Champlin), bassist John Barrett, and drummer Fuzzy Oxendine, they crafted a blend of roots rock, soul, folk, and jam-laced psychedelia. Their only recorded session, Flashback, was laid down live in April 1970 at a converted church in San Anselmo. Released posthumously in 2005, it showcases the raw and heartfelt energy of a band that burned briefly but brightly.

The four-person group included two members of Moby Grape, Jerry Miller and Bob Mosley, who also wrote or co-wrote most of the songs on the album. For these reasons, the album is often regarded as a Moby Grape album.

Moxy is a Canadian hard rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario, in 1974, with members of the band Leigh Ashford, including singer Douglas "Buzz" Shearman (former Peabody & Sherman singer), Earl Johnson of Outlaw Music, Greg Godovitz of Goddo and Gil Moore of Triumph. While recording this album also known as "Black Album", the session guitarist Tommy Bolin was in the recording studio next door. Bolin was so impressed by this rock band in the good sense of the word that when Moxy's manager Roland Paquin asked him to play in Earl Johnson's place, he agreed.

Gamma - Gamma 1 (1979)

The original lineup of Ronnie Montrose (guitars), Davey Pattison (vocals), Alan Fitzgerald (bass), Jim Alcivar (keyboards) and Skip Gillette (drums) recorded this album. Guitarist Montrose, bassist Fitzgerald and keyboardist Alcivar had all been members of the band Montrose. After years of success, like many bands, Gamma's members went their separate ways and in 1986 Davey was approached by his old friend Robin Trower who asked him to perform on his forthcoming album "Passion".

La formation originale composée de Ronnie Montrose (guitares), Davey Pattison (chant), Alan Fitzgerald (basse), Jim Alcivar (claviers) et Skip Gillette (batterie) a enregistré cet album. Le guitariste Montrose, le bassiste Fitzgerald et le claviériste Alcivar étaient tous membres du groupe Montrose. Après des années de succès, comme beaucoup de groupes, les membres de Gamma se séparèrent et en 1986 Davey fut approché par son vieil ami Robin Trower qui lui demanda de jouer sur son prochain album "Passion".
