Formé à Richmond (Virginie) en 1990 par David Lowery et Johnny Hickman, le groupe Cracker s’est rapidement imposé sur la scène alternative avec Kerosene Hat (1993). Formed in Richmond, Virginia, in 1990, Cracker gained alt-rock acclaim with Kerosene Hat (1993) before evolving their sound on 1996’s The Golden Age.
