Formé en 1990 en Virginie, Cracker s’est imposé avec Kerosene Hat (1993). Avec Gentleman’s Blues, ils opèrent un retour à un son rock roots plus organique et teinté de blues des années 70. Produit par Don Smith, l’album renoue avec une intensité terre à terre, entre morceaux énergiques (The Good Life, Seven Days) et atmosphères introspectives et marécageuses (James River, Gentleman’s Blues)
