Released on March 2, 1973, The Captain and Me is the third studio album by The Doobie Brothers. Recorded at Warner Bros. It includes two of their best-known hits: "Long Train Runnin’" and "China Grove", both of which became staples of American classic rock radio.

With polished production from Ted Templeman and the musical synergy between Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons, the album was both a critical and commercial success, peaking at number 7 on the Billboard 200.
