Formé en 1969 à Augsbourg, en Allemagne, Gift est un groupe de krautrock issu de la formation scolaire Phallus Dei.Sous la direction du producteur Otto Hartmann, le groupe enregistre son premier album éponyme en 1971 aux Union Studios de Munich, publié par Teldec. L'album se distingue par son approche heavy psych, mêlant riffs puissants, rythmes complexes et une énergie brute caractéristique du mouvement krautrock. Le groupe se produit sur scène, notamment lors du German Rock Super Concert en 1973 à Francfort, aux côtés d'autres figures emblématiques du genre. Après la sortie de leur deuxième album, Blue Apple, en 1974, Gift se sépare, laissant derrière lui un héritage respecté dans le paysage du rock progressif allemand.

Formed in 1969 in Augsburg, Germany, Gift emerged from the school band Phallus Dei. Under the guidance of producer Otto Hartmann, the band recorded their self-titled debut album in 1971 at Union Studios in Munich, released by Teldec.The album is noted for its heavy psychedelic approach, blending powerful riffs, complex rhythms, and raw energy characteristic of the krautrock movement. The band performed live, including at the German Rock Super Concert in 1973 in Frankfurt alongside other prominent figures of the genre. Following the release of their second album, Blue Apple, in 1974, Gift disbanded, leaving behind a respected legacy in the German progressive rock scene.
