Sitting Bull est un groupe allemand formé en 1971 à Brême par Bernd Zamulo, ancien membre du groupe à succès des années 60, The Lords. Désireux de s'éloigner du mainstream et d'explorer des horizons musicaux plus progressifs, Zamulo fonde Sitting Bull, un nom inspiré de son intérêt pour la culture amérindienne. Le groupe enregistre son unique album, Trip Away, aux studios Windrose à Hambourg, bénéficiant d'une grande liberté artistique grâce aux relations de Zamulo dans l'industrie musicale. L'album, influencé par le rock psychédélique de la côte ouest américaine, se distingue par ses longues improvisations et ses compositions originales. Malgré un certain succès en Allemagne, le groupe se dissout après deux ans d'activité, notamment en raison de problèmes organisationnels lors de leur tournée promotionnelle.

Sitting Bull was a German band formed in 1971 in Bremen by Bernd Zamulo, a former member of the successful 1960s beat group The Lords. Eager to move away from mainstream pop and explore more progressive musical directions, Zamulo founded Sitting Bull, a name inspired by his fascination with Native American culture. The band recorded their sole album, Trip Away, at Windrose Studios in Hamburg, enjoying significant artistic freedom thanks to Zamulo’s industry connections.

Strongly influenced by the West Coast psychedelic rock sound, the album features long improvisational passages and original compositions. Despite modest success in Germany, the band disbanded after just two years, largely due to organizational issues encountered during their promotional tour.
