John Lennon - John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band (1970)

The bell that opens the album heavily gives us to hear John skinned-alive who exorcises his old demons evoking the death of his mother or the abandonment of his father ( 'Mother', 'My Mummy's Dead'). Beatles released the shackles, he does not hesitate to put his music in the service of his political guidelines ( 'Working Class Hero', 'Power to the People ") but do not neglect the less pure rock with songs like 'Well, Well, Well', 'Found Out' or 'Remember'. Plastic Ono Band is finally off the solo careers of Lennon, who returned from his avant-garde aspirations, achieves an incisive drive, protest and closer to the style that has always known her intimate: a scholar crude mixture of rock and melancholic strolls.

Le glas qui ouvre lourdement l’album nous donne à entendre un John écorché-vif qui exorcise ses vieux démons en évoquant la mort de sa mère ou encore l’abandon de son père ('Mother', 'My Mummy’s Dead'). Libéré du carcan Beatles, il n’hésite pas à mettre sa musique au service de ses orientations politiques ('Working Class Hero', 'Power to the People') mais n’en délaisse pas moins le rock pur et dur avec des morceaux comme 'Well, Well, Well ' , 'Found Out' ou encore ' Remember '. 

Plastic Ono Band fait enfin décoller la carrière solo d’un Lennon qui, revenu de ses aspirations avant-gardistes, réalise un disque incisif, contestataire et intimiste plus proche du style qu’on lui a toujours connu : un savant mélange de rock brut et de balades mélancoliques.
