Dernier album enregistré avec Jim Morrison avant sa mort à Paris, L.A. Woman est un retour aux racines blues et rock du groupe, plus brut et direct que ses prédécesseurs. La voix de Morrison y est grave, presque hantée, comme s’il pressentait la fin proche. Les Doors abandonnent ici les expérimentations psychédéliques pour une énergie chaude et urbaine. Ce disque, enregistré rapidement dans leur studio à Los Angeles, est traversé d’une tension électrique et sensuelle. Des morceaux comme « Riders on the Storm », « Love Her Madly » ou le titre éponyme sont devenus des classiques intemporels.

L.A. Woman, released in April 1971, is the final album recorded with Jim Morrison before his death. A gritty return to bluesy roots, it showcases a raw, unfiltered Doors sound, less psychedelic and more grounded in rock and rhythm & blues. The recording was quick and spontaneous, captured in the band’s rehearsal space. Morrison’s voice, deeper and darker than ever, echoes a sense of farewell. From the hypnotic drive of “L.A. Woman” to the haunting atmosphere of “Riders on the Storm,” the album remains a high point in their discography.
