Hailing from Berkeley, California, The Loading Zone blended psychedelic rock with soul and rhythm & blues on their self-titled debut in 1968. Led by keyboardist Paul Fauerso and fronted by powerhouse vocalist Linda Tillery, the band added horns and funk-inspired grooves to the acid rock of the era. While the album was met with mixed reviews at the time—criticized for being overproduced—it now stands as a compelling document of the Bay Area’s eclectic soundscape. A bold and soulful experiment in genre fusion.
