Avant leur album On The Line (1973), Blackstone avait publié un premier disque éponyme en 1972, rare et souvent oublié. Ce projet marque une transition depuis leur incarnation précédente en tant que Mainline, mêlant déjà blues électrique, funk discret et soul cuivrée. Before releasing On The Line (1973), Blackstone debuted with a self-titled LP in 1972—a rare, often overlooked album. The record bridges their earlier incarnation as Mainline, blending electric blues, understated funk, and horn-laced soul. With Joe Roberts’ soulful vocals and Mike McKenna’s sharp guitar work, the album delivers a raw, groove-heavy sound. Though it had limited reach, the LP remains a gem for collectors of vintage Canadian underground rock.
