Formé en 1968 à Folkestone, en Angleterre, Fat Mattress est un groupe de rock psychédélique et folk-rock fondé par Noel Redding, alors bassiste de The Jimi Hendrix Experience, et le chanteur Neil Landon. Le groupe réunit également Jim Leverton à la basse et aux claviers, et Eric Dillon à la batterie. Leur premier album éponyme, sorti en 1969, dévoile une belle fusion de psychédélisme, de folk et de rock progressif, avec des harmonies vocales soignées. Le titre Magic Forest connaîtra un succès notable aux Pays-Bas. Malgré une courte existence, le groupe a marqué la scène britannique de la fin des sixties.

Formed in 1968 in Folkestone, England, Fat Mattress was a psychedelic and folk-rock band created by Noel Redding, then bassist of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and singer Neil Landon. The band also included Jim Leverton on bass and keyboards, and Eric Dillon on drums. Their self-titled debut album (1969) blended psychedelic rock, folk, and progressive elements, characterized by rich harmonies and catchy tunes. The single Magic Forest gained popularity in the Netherlands. Although short-lived, the band left a lasting mark on the late-60s British rock scene.
