Sorti en novembre 1977, Slowhand est le cinquième album studio solo d’Eric Clapton. Le titre de l’album fait référence à son surnom, attribué par le manager Giorgio Gomelsky en raison du style décontracté du guitariste. L’album a été enregistré aux Olympic Studios de Londres sous la houlette de Glyn Johns, également producteur des Rolling Stones et des Eagles.
On y retrouve plusieurs titres majeurs de Clapton : "Cocaine" (de J.J. Cale), "Wonderful Tonight", et "Lay Down Sally". Slowhand a rencontré un franc succès critique et commercial, obtenant plusieurs disques de platine. Il figure régulièrement dans les classements des meilleurs albums de l’histoire du rock.

Released in November 1977, Slowhand is Eric Clapton's fifth solo studio album. The title refers to Clapton’s nickname, given by his manager Giorgio Gomelsky due to his relaxed guitar style. Recorded at Olympic Studios in London, it was produced by Glyn Johns, known for his work with the Rolling Stones and Eagles.
The album includes some of Clapton’s best-known songs: "Cocaine" (by J.J. Cale), "Wonderful Tonight", and "Lay Down Sally". Slowhand was a commercial and critical success, earning multi-platinum certifications and consistently appearing in all-time greatest album lists.
