Released on September 15, 1972, Bandstand is the sixth studio album by British progressive rock band Family. Recorded at Olympic Studios in London, the album showcases a shift towards a more accessible sound, blending progressive rock, psychedelic rock, and hard rock. The band adopts more conventional song structures while retaining their instrumental richness. Notable tracks include "Burlesque," which reached number 13 on the UK Singles Chart, and the emotive acoustic ballad "My Friend the Sun." Bandstand is also significant as the last Family album featuring bassist John Wetton before his departure to join King Crimson.
