Released in November 1977, Down Two Then Left is the eighth studio album by Boz Scaggs, following the massive success of Silk Degrees (1976). While it didn't match the commercial success of its predecessor, the album peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and was praised for its polished production and mellow vibe. Notably, it marks the debut of Steve Lukather (future member of Toto) alongside Scaggs, as well as contributions from musicians like Jeff Porcaro and David Hungate, who would later become founding members of Toto.
