🎸 The Fox – For Fox Sake (1970)

🇺🇸 Biography (English)
Formed in Brighton in 1968, The Fox delivered a singular psych-pop gem with their sole album For Fox Sake, released in 1970 on Fontana (Crewe in North America with different artwork). Fronted by Steve Brayne and Alex Lane, and featuring Winston Weatherill’s sitar guitar and Alex’s Hammond flair, the band fused psychedelic rock, soul, and proto‑prog elements. Tracks like Butterfly and the nine-minute Madame Magical typify the lush, guitar‑organ interplay that has earned the album cult status among collector circles. Unfortunately, the group disbanded when management shifted focus to Black Sabbath.

🎸 Hotlegs – Thinks: School Stinks (1971)

🇺🇸 Biography (English)
Before evolving into 10cc, Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley & Lol Creme operated as Hotlegs. Their only LP, Thinks: School Stinks (recorded in 1970 at Strawberry Studios), featured the global hit "Neanderthal Man" but also a broader musical palette—including a multi-part instrumental suite—revealing early traces of the complex craftsmanship behind 10cc’s later work . Despite its eclectic nature, the album didn’t meet commercial expectations, but remains a unique snapshot of a band in creative transition.

🎸 Child – Child (1970)

🇺🇸 Biography (English)

Formed in late‑60s London, Child created a refined blend of progressive rock, folk, and pop baroque. Their self‑titled debut, released in 1970 on Deram/Decca, features lush arrangements—strings, brass, electric piano—and elegant songwriting. Though the album found only modest commercial reception amid the rise of heavier prog and psych acts, it remains a polished gem, revealing the gentler, melodic side of early ’70s British rock.

🎸 Sweathog – Sweathog (1971)

🇺🇸 Biography (English)

After shaping psychedelic rock history with Love, Arthur Lee released his first solo album Vindicator in 1972. Departing from the ornate textures of Forever Changes, Lee delivers a raw, electric sound blending garage rock, proto-hard rock, and touches of funk and soul. With gritty vocals, fuzzed-out guitars, and unpredictable songwriting, Vindicator reveals a darker, edgier side of Lee's artistry. Though it failed to chart significantly, the album has since gained cult status, praised for its uncompromising vision and its place as a bridge between the late '60s counterculture and the heavier grooves of the '70s.
