Après avoir quitté Black Sabbath, Ronnie James Dio fonde son propre groupe en 1982, emmenant avec lui le batteur Vinny Appice. Avec le guitariste Vivian Campbell et le bassiste Jimmy Bain, il enregistre Holy Diver, sorti en 1983. Cet album s'impose comme un classique du heavy metal, mêlant puissance lyrique, solos tranchants et imagerie médiévale-fantastique. After parting ways with Black Sabbath, Ronnie James Dio launched his solo project in 1982, bringing along drummer Vinny Appice. Teaming up with guitarist Vivian Campbell and bassist Jimmy Bain, he recorded Holy Diver (1983), which quickly became a heavy metal landmark. Blending powerful vocals, razor-sharp guitar work, and fantasy-inspired lyrics, the album set a new standard for the genre. Tracks like Rainbow in the Dark and Holy Diver remain iconic to this day.
