Originaire de Chicago, Fat Water publie en 1969 son unique album éponyme, synthèse habile entre psychédélisme, pop baroque, folk rock et early prog. Le groupe se distingue par l’alternance des voix masculine et féminine, des arrangements riches en harmonies vocales et des touches instrumentales variées : orgue, guitares fuzz, flûte ou encore percussions. Moins acide que d’autres formations psyché de la côte Ouest, Fat Water développe une atmosphère douce-amère et envoûtante qui rappelle parfois The Peanut Butter Conspiracy ou It's A Beautiful Day. Hailing from Chicago, Fat Water released their sole self-titled album in 1969, blending psychedelia, baroque pop, folk rock, and early progressive elements. The band is notable for alternating male and female vocals, lush harmonies, and varied instrumental textures, including organ, fuzz guitar, flute, and percussion. Less acid-driven than many West Coast psych outfits, Fat Water creates a bittersweet, hypnotic mood reminiscent of The Peanut Butter Conspiracy or It's A Beautiful Day. Despite clear musical strengths, the band remained under the radar, becoming a hidden gem for collectors of late 60s psych rock.
