It represents the peak of the Michael McDonald era, solidifying the band's shift toward sophisticated soul and refined soft rock. The album was a massive commercial success, spending 87 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart and reaching number one for five non-consecutive weeks. It was certified triple platinum by the RIAA. The single "What a Fool Believes" topped the Billboard Hot 100 in April 1979 and won multiple Grammy Awards, including Song and Record of the Year.
