Tiger est un groupe britannique formé par d’anciens membres de Second Hand et The Enid, notamment Ken Elliott(claviers) et Kieran O'Connor (batterie), figures marginales mais influentes de la scène underground anglaise. Avec leur unique album Tiger, sorti en 1976 sur le label Gull (le même que Judas Priest à leurs débuts), ils proposent une fusion étonnante entre funk, glam, rock progressif et soul psychédélique.

Loin des clichés du prog pompeux ou du funk clinquant, Tiger joue une musique hybride, tendue, percutante et dansante. Les claviers vintage y tiennent une place centrale, accompagnés de grooves solides et de lignes vocales habitées. Tiger est un album unique en son genre : trop rock pour être disco, trop groovy pour être prog, trop classe pour être oublié. Un ovni funky-prog qui mérite une oreille curieuse.

Tiger was a short-lived British band born from the ashes of underground prog and art-rock acts like Second Hand and The Enid, featuring keyboardist Ken Elliott and drummer Kieran O’Connor. Their sole album Tiger, released in 1976 on Gull Records (also home to early Judas Priest), delivers a unique blend of funk, glam, prog, and psychedelic soul.

With vintage keyboards, infectious grooves, and dramatic vocals, Tiger doesn’t fit neatly into any box. It’s too funky for prog purists, too weird for mainstream funk, and far too inventive to ignore. This overlooked LP is a brilliant snapshot of mid-’70s genre-blending, where boundaries dissolve in favor of raw rhythm and sonic flair.
