Frère cadet du célèbre James Taylor, Livingston Taylor fait ses débuts discographiques en 1970 avec cet album éponyme publié chez Capricorn Records. Dès ce premier disque, il impose un style personnel, plus proche du folk-pop léger et mélodique que de la veine folk-blues de son frère. Avec une voix douce et des textes introspectifs teintés d’humour ou de tendresse, Livingston s’inscrit dans la lignée des singer-songwriters des années 70, sans chercher à imiter ses contemporains. Livingston Taylor, younger brother of James Taylor, launched his solo career in 1970 with this self-titled debut on Capricorn Records. Markedly distinct from his brother’s folk-blues leanings, Livingston’s sound blends folk-pop with a mellow, introspective sensibility. His songwriting is lyrical, quirky, and emotionally subtle, delivered with a smooth voice and supported by understated arrangements. Though less commercially successful than his sibling, Taylor carved out his own niche in the early '70s singer-songwriter movement, earning a loyal following.
