🎸 Third World - 96 Degrees In the Shade (1977)

Their first self-titled album was released in 1976. Their version of the Abyssinians "Satta massa Ganna" had its first success, but it was without a doubt with their second album "96 degrees in the shade" the following year that they entered the history of reggae with titles like "Jah Glory" or "96 degrees in the shade", classics that never tires of listening! They were joined at the time by another former Inner Circle member, William Clarke.

Leur version du « Satta massa Ganna » des Abyssinians rencontre un premier succès, mais c’est incontestablement avec leur second album « 96 degrees in the shade » l'année suivante qu’ils rentrent dans l’histoire du reggae avec des titres comme « Jah Glory » ou « 96 degrees in the shade », des classiques qu’on ne se lasse pas d’écouter ! Chronixx - Chronology (2017)

At 24 years of age, the Rastafarian singer-songwriter known as Chronixx (full name Jamar McNaughton) is already up to the task of leading the next wave of Jamaican reggae artists in the present millennium. The long-gestating Chronology finds the genre in a curious place, appreciated in the mainstream but in an appropriative sense, with the genre vibes, chords and sensibilities serving as the foundation for many a "tropical house" and faux "dancehall pop" hit but nary a Jamaican artist on the level of making a Marley-esque splash.

The Gladiators - Back To Roots (2000)

Back to Roots  perfectly sums up this set's sound. No longer dependent on guesting musicians, the group was now a self-contained unit with a lineup including drummer Stanley "Barnabas" Bryan, lead guitarist Clinton Rufus, and keyboardist Audley Taylor, and fleshed out by percussionist Zoot "Skully" Simms and the brass of Bobby Ellis, Felix "Deadly Headly" Bennett, and Dave Madden. 

Back to Roots résume parfaitement le son de cet ensemble. N'étant plus dépendants de musiciens guests, le groupe est maintenant une unité autonome avec une formation composée du batteur Stanley "Barnabas" Bryan, du guitariste Clinton Rufus et du claviériste Audley Taylor, et étoffée par le percussionniste Zoot "Skully" Simms et les cuivres. de Bobby Ellis, Felix Bennett, et Dave Madden.

Cleaton Fearon - Goodness (2014)

Clinton Fearon has kept the fire burning for forty years: his acoustic sets are still being recorded on analogue on the latest album which exudes the unique sound of the best Kingston roots. The chorus and melody in 'The Hunter' are reminiscent of the first 45s he made with The Gladiators. "There are only original compositions on this album, no cover versions. I've been singing for so long now that it's possible some of the tunes might sound familiar sometimes, but it's not deliberate. 

Clinton Fearon a gardé le feu brûlant pendant quarante ans : ses sets acoustiques sont toujours enregistrés en analogique sur le dernier album qui respire le son unique des meilleures racines de Kingston. Le refrain et la mélodie de 'The Hunter' rappellent les premiers 45 tours qu'il a réalisés avec The Gladiators. "Il n'y a que des compositions originales sur cet album, pas de reprises, je chante depuis si longtemps qu'il est possible que certaines mélodies puissent vous sembler familières, mais ce n'est pas délibéré".

Paul Gilbert - I Can Destroy (2015)

He is really very strong this Paul Gilbert. Guitar hero funny and crazy, but never completely perched, he decided to deliver his album of rock for the stadiums, with big sound de rigueur. Here it is that calls on the champion of production, Kevin Shirley (Joe Bonamassa, Black Crowes, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Journey, Mr. Big ...). If we forget the end of the disc that is muffled, the first 2 thirds of this slab are delivered at a furious pace (I Can Destroy), with this little trick more fun that avoids heaviness (Knocking On A Loocked Door). And of course, he's still skewed solo with a disconcerting ease.

Il est vraiment très fort ce Paul Gilbert. Guitar hero drôle et déjanté, mais jamais complètement perché, il a décidé de livrer son album de rock pour les stades, avec gros son de rigueur. Le voilà qui fait appel au champion de la production, Kevin Shirley (Joe Bonamassa, Black Crowes, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Journey, Mr. Big…). Si on oublie la fin du disque qui se tasse, les 2 premiers tiers de la présente galette sont livrés à un rythme endiablé (I Can Destroy), avec ce petit truc fun en plus qui évite les lourdeurs (Knocking On A Loocked Door). Et bien entendu, il balance du solo toujours aussi démentiel avec une facilité déconcertante.

Five Horse Johnson are an Ohio based Blues band who appeal to fans of Stoner Rock and Classic Rock, due to their similar outlook, attitude and production styles. The No.6 Dance was the band's fourth full-length studio album and the track `Mississippi King' was featured in several  videogame soundtracks.

No.6 Dance is an album that you can just listen on from beginning to end, have a good time and not have to skip anything.

Five Horse Johnson est un groupe de Blues basé en Ohio qui séduit les fans de Stoner Rock et Classic Rock, en raison de leurs perspectives similaires, leur attitude et leurs styles de production. The No.6 Dance était le quatrième album studio complet du groupe et le titre Mississippi King figurait dans plusieurs bandes sonores de jeux vidéo.

No.6 Dance est un album que vous pouvez écouter du début à la fin, passer un bon moment et ne pas avoir à sauter quoi que ce soit.

Dangerous Toys - Pissed (1994)

Stuffed with bad-boy posturing and power balladry, this disc has all the hooks needed to go platinum many times over --- in 1984.  A decade later, blues-based commercial-rock outfits like Dangerous Toys had expended all their media capitol, trying desperately tossing records like Pissed into the wind.

Rempli de gesticulations de mauvais garçons et de ballades puissantes, ce disque a tous les atouts nécessaires pour atteindre le platine à plusieurs reprises --- en 1984. Une décennie plus tard, des groupes de rock commercial basés sur le blues comme Dangerous Toys, qui avaient dépensé toute leur potentiel médiatique, ont désespérément tenté de lancer des disques comme Pissed.

Danger Danger - The Return Of The Great Gildersleeves (2000)

This album is in no way connected to the Danger Danger of old. This is a rocking new band with Canada's Paul Laine on vocals. With him comes a new sound and heavier, rawer sound. His vocals are tougher than Ted's which makes the band sound tougher and that's what is  the problem.If this came out between 1987 & 1990 it would have been a massive success and Skid Row would have had some competition.

Cet album n'est en aucun cas lié au Danger Danger d'antan. C'est un nouveau groupe rock avec le Canadien Paul Laine au chant. Avec lui vient un nouveau son et un son plus lourd et plus brut. Sa voix est plus dure que celle de Ted, ce qui rend le groupe plus dur et c'est ce qui pose problème. Si ça sort entre 1987 et 1990 ça aurait été un énorme succès et Skid Row aurait eu de la concurrence.
