Honey Cone was a female vocal trio from Los Angeles formed in 1968, produced by the legendary Holland–Dozier–Holland for their Hot Wax label. Featuring Carolyn Willis, Shelly Clark, and Edna Wright (Darlene Love’s sister), the group delivered a bold, vibrant mix of soul, pop, and funk. Their second album Sweet Replies (1971) followed the success of their No.1 hit "Want Ads", showcasing tight harmonies, punchy production, and empowered lyrical themes. It's a strong statement of early ’70s female soul with attitude and flair.
