Phenomenon marque un tournant décisif pour UFO. Après deux albums à forte coloration space rock, le groupe britannique amorce avec cet opus un virage vers le hard rock mélodique qui fera sa renommée. L’arrivée du jeune guitariste prodige allemand Michael Schenker (ex-Scorpions) insuffle un souffle nouveau et explosif à la formation. Produit par Leo Lyons (bassiste de Ten Years After), Phenomenon contient plusieurs titres devenus des classiques du groupe et du hard rock des années 1970. Ce disque établit définitivement la signature sonore d’UFO : mélodies accrocheuses, solos flamboyants et puissance maîtrisée.

Phenomenon represents a pivotal moment for UFO. After two space rock-oriented albums, the British band shifted towards melodic hard rock, setting the stage for their future success. The arrival of young German guitar prodigy Michael Schenker (formerly of Scorpions) brought new fire and virtuosity to the group. Produced by Leo Lyons (of Ten Years After), Phenomenon includes several tracks that would become staples of the band and the hard rock scene of the 1970s. This album firmly established UFO’s signature sound: catchy melodies, soaring guitar solos, and controlled power.
