Paru en avril 1969, On the Threshold of a Dream est le quatrième album studio de The Moody Blues et le troisième avec la formation dite « classique » menée par Justin Hayward, John Lodge et Mike Pinder. Dans la continuité de In Search of the Lost Chord, le groupe pousse ici plus loin encore son exploration du rock symphonique et de la poésie onirique, avec un usage accru du Mellotron et des effets électroniques. L’album se distingue par une construction presque conceptuelle, alternant chansons et interludes parlés, et une atmosphère rêveuse, quasi mystique. Released in April 1969, On the Threshold of a Dream is the fourth studio album by The Moody Blues and the third to feature the band’s classic lineup. Deepening their sonic and lyrical ambitions, the group fuses psychedelia, classical influences, and cosmic introspection through lavish arrangements centered around the Mellotron and poetic spoken-word segments. The album follows a loosely conceptual path about consciousness, dreams, and identity. A landmark in British progressive rock, it topped the UK charts and solidified the band’s role as pioneers of symphonic rock.
