Geoff Whitehorn - Whitehorn (1974)




Geoffrey Charles "Geoff" Whitehorn is a guitarist and singer-songwriter, who has played as a member of If, Crawler and Procol Harum.
In 1976–1979, Whitehorn played in the band Crawler (formerly known as Back Street Crawler), replacing the band's founder Paul Kossoff after the latter's death.

Geoffrey Charles "Geoff" Whitehorn est un guitariste et auteur-compositeur-interprète qui a joué en tant que membre de If, Crawler et Procol Harum.
En 1976-1979, Whitehorn joue dans le groupe Crawler (anciennement connu sous le nom de Back Street Crawler), remplaçant le fondateur du groupe, Paul Kossoff, après la mort de ce dernier.

Grinderswitch - Redwing (1977)





In 1976 after returning from a major European tour with MTB and Bonnie Bramlett ,Grinderswitch entered the studio to record what would become their biggest Album "Redwing" but there was problems with the label and the album was shelved.  Times were tough but they stuck together and in 1977 "Redwing" was released on the newly formed Dick Wooley Rabbit/Atco label. 

En 1976, après son retour d'une grande tournée européenne avec MTB et Bonnie Bramlett, Grinderswitch est entré en studio pour enregistrer ce qui allait devenir leur plus gros album "Redwing" mais il y avait des problèmes avec le label et l'album a été abandonné. Les temps étaient durs mais ils sont restés ensemble et en 1977 "Redwing" a finalement été libéré sur le label Dick Wooley Rabbit / Atco nouvellement formé.

Elvin Bishop - Let It Flow (1974)



For his fourth album, Elvin Bishop organized a new backup group and switched to Capricorn Records. Capricorn was known as the standard bearer of the Southern rock movement--the Allman Brothers Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, etc.--and Bishop was able to emphasize the country/blues aspects of his persona and his music in the move from Marin County, California, to Macon, Georgia. 

Pour son quatrième album, Elvin Bishop a constitué un nouveau groupe d'accompagnement  et est passé à Capricorn Records. Capricorn était connu comme le porte-étendard du mouvement rock sudiste - l'Allman Brothers Band, le Marshall Tucker Band, etc - et Bishop était capable de mettre en valeur les aspects country / blues de son personnage et sa musique dans son déplacement de Marin County, en Californie, à Macon, en Géorgie.

Kestrel - Kestrel (1975)



Astonishing from beginning `til the end, Kestrel`s first and only album is a lesson of well-crafted progressive with the magnificent lead vocals of Tom Knowles. Highlights are the last track (August Carol), as Wind Cloud and I Believe In You. 
An unknown masterpiece, full of great moments.

Étonnant du début jusqu'à la fin, le premier et seul album de Kestrel est une leçon de rock progressif bien conçu avec la magnifique voix de Tom Knowles. Les points culminants sont la dernière piste (August Carol), tout me Wind Cloud et I Believe In You.
Un chef-d'œuvre inconnu, plein de grands moments.

Airbus - Test Flight (1973)






A trio of songwriters, singers and multi-instrumentalists, West Coast Consortium spinoff Airbus never played live or even released a record during their 1970-1973 lifespan. Instead, they spent their entire subterranean existence holed up in their self-owned Whitechapel studio, writing and performing innumerable high quality demos and then attempting to place those songs with major label acts. Unlikely though it sounds, Airbus - the band that never got off the ground - left behind THE Great Lost Early Seventies British Pop Album, a jaw-dropping collision of superb songs, dazzling vocal harmonies, intelligent lyrics and hook-laden melodies that occupy the same studio uberpop territory as the first 10cc album and even Paul McCartney's Ram. Here, then, is the strange, previously untold story of a band that didn't leave so much as a footprint in the musical sands, but recorded a greater number of three-minute pop nuggets than almost all of their contemporaries...

Un trio de compositeurs, de chanteurs et de multi-instrumentistes, Airbus Consortium dérivé West Coast Consortium n'a jamais joué en direct ou même publié un seul disque au cours de leur durée de vie de 1970 à 1973. Au lieu de cela, ils ont passé toute leur existence souterraine dans leur propre studio Whitechapel, écrivant et exécutant d'innombrables démos de haute qualité, puis tentant de placer ces chansons avec des grands labels. Peu enviable, Airbus - le groupe qui n'a jamais décollé - a laissé derrière lui une superbe collection de superbes chansons, d'harmonies vocales éblouissantes, de paroles intelligentes et de mélodies accrocheuses qui occupent le même territoire studio que le premier album de 10cc où même Ram de McCartney. Voilà donc l'histoire étrange et inédite d'un groupe qui n'a pas laissé de trace dans les sables musicaux, mais qui a enregistré un plus grand nombre de pépites pop de trois minutes que la quasi-totalité de leurs contemporains ...

Abel - Please World (1971)



Great rock album of Abel Sanchez with great horns and guitar effects including the nice tune "Music Maker". Music in the style of brass rock interspersed with great fuzz. Drummer Tom Catalano later formed his own label "TomCat" and worked with Nancy Nevins, vocalist  "Sweetwater".

Super album de rock d'Abel Sanchez avec de superbes cuivres et des effets de guitare dont la belle mélodie "Music Maker". Musique dans le style brass rock  entrecoupé de  fuzz. Highway - Highway (1975)




The History of the band starts in 1965 when two Fairmont bands, The Pacers and The Corvairs, joined together and formed The Epicureans. Eventually The Epicureans became Highway in 1972 and have evolved into The Murphy Brothers Band today. The all original album "Highway" was recorded in the spring of 1975 at Westminster Studio just outside Fort Dodge, Iowa. Only 500 copies were pressed and released.

L'histoire du groupe commence en 1965 lorsque deux groupes de Fairmont, The Pacers et The Corvairs, se sont réunis et ont formé The Epicureans. Elephant's Memory was an American rock band formed in New York City in the late 1960s, known primarily for backing John Lennon and Yoko Ono from late 1971 to 1973. For live performances with Lennon and Ono, the band was known as the Plastic Ono Elephant's Memory Band.

Corliss - Corliss (1972)



The only LP from Corliss Nelson, nice folk rock songs all written by himself. A particularly remarkable voice and some interesting orchestral  arrangements. Recorded in Albuquerque, New Mexico at John Wagner Studios. The album was produced and released by a short lived  (1972-1979) Motown sublabel called "Natural Resources".

Le seul LP de Corliss Nelson, de jolies chansons folk rock écrites par lui-même. Une voix particulièrement remarquable et des arrangements orchestraux intéressants. Stackridge - The Man In The Bowler Hat (1974)



The Man In The Bowler Hat is the third album by the British rock group Stackridge. The album was produced by George Martin at AIR Studios, London and released in the UK by MCA Records. The Man in the Bowler Hat continues Stackridge's brand of satiric rock marbled with elements of folk and to some extent, even country. The lyrics are just as witty as in their first two releases, and the poetry glistens with a jovial Englishness that became the band's most identifiable trademark.

Obscure album on the private Vermont folk bluegrass rustic psych label. Lovely arrangements with a touch of anarchic whimsy. Michael Hurley guests on "mouth trumpet." Yet the exclusive use of acoustic instruments keep these modern songs into a rural vein.

Album obscur sur un label privé du Vermont de folk bluegrass psychédélique. De splendides arrangements avec une touche de fantaisie anarchique.

Blackberry Smoke - The Whippoorwill (2012)



If you haven’t heard of Blackberry Smoke yet, you are really missing out on prime musicianship. The Georgia based band was added to Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Artists label back in 2010, shortly after their second album was released. And it’s not hard to see why Zac Brown wanted them on his label. Just like Zac Brown Band, Blackberry Smoke demonstrates quality craftsmanship on every song from start to finish — from the lyrics to the melody to the production. The group, which has been together for more than a decade, is the epitome of southern rock. Blackberry Smoke’s bio says that they mix “elements of gospel, bluegrass, arena rock, soul, and more than a touch of country.” It’s this mixture of sounds that they effortlessly and flawlessly sew together on their latest thirteen track album, The Whippoorwill.

Si vous n'avez pas encore entendu Blackberry Smoke, vous ratez vraiment le meilleur de la musique. Le groupe basé en Géorgie a été ajouté au label Southern Ground Artists de Zac Brown en 2010, peu après la sortie de leur deuxième album. Et il n'est pas difficile de voir pourquoi Zac Brown les voulait. Tout comme Zac Brown Band, Blackberry Smoke fait preuve d'un savoir-faire de qualité sur chaque chanson du début à la fin - des paroles à la mélodie en passant par la production. Le groupe, qui a été ensemble pendant plus d'une décennie, est la quintessence du rock sudiste. The Dependables - Klatu Berrada Niktu (1971)




Formed out of the ashes of The Blues Magoos by Ralph Scala and Ronnie Gilbert and with additional member Joey Stec, formerly of the Millennium, The Dependables were to hard-nosed southern swamp soul what Gram and the Flying Burrito Brothers were to country: a post-psychedelic cosmic take on the great American sounds.

Cymbal & Clinger - Cymbal & Clinger (1972)




By 1972, Cymbal and Clinger's writing success led Farrell to produce Cymbal and Clinger on an eponymous LP of their own material using the cream of studio musicians in the Los Angeles area, including: Hal Blaine, Tom Scott, Larry Carlton, Michael Omartian, Joe Osborn and the rest of the "A" team players. Singles from that effort failed to chart, and though John and Peggy toured to support the release, including one gig at the Hollywood Bowl opening for Sly and the Family Stone, the LP did little to enhance the career of either Cymbal or Clinger.

En 1972, le succès d'écriture de Cymbal et Clinger conduit Farrell à produire Cymbal et Clinger sur un LP éponyme de leur propre matériel en utilisant la crème des musiciens de studio dans la région de Los Angeles, y compris: Hal Blaine, Larry Carlton, Michael Omartian, Joe Osborn et le reste des joueurs de l'équipe "A". Billy Paul - 360 degrees of Billy Paul (1972)

Burning Spear - Man In The Hills (1976)



After Studio One Presents Burning Spear in 1973, the trio merges with its leader, the name Burning Spear designates both the group and Winston Rodney. Burning Spear then recorded a series of masterpieces for Island. Marcus Garvey (1975), Man in the Hills (1976) and Dry & Heavy (1977) are all classics of reggae that carry the message of Rastafarianism.

Truth is, he's both, but more importantly, Lee Perry is a towering figure in reggae -- a producer, mixer, and songwriter who, along with King Tubby, helped shape the sound of dub and made reggae music such a powerful part of the pop music world.

War Ina Babylon is the fourth studio album of Jamaican reggae singer Max Romeo, and undoubtedly the one that brought him the most success; he is also generally considered as one of his musical heyday. Recorded in 1975 at the legendary studio of Black Ark, with the producer of some of the greatest reggae icons, Lee "Scratch" Perry, it is made in collaboration with the group of musicians of the latter, the Upsetters.

War Ina Babylon est le quatrième album studio du chanteur de reggae jamaïcain Max Romeo, et sans doute celui qui lui a rapporté le plus de succès ; il est également généralement considéré comme celui de son apogée musical. Enregistré en 1975 au studio mythique de Black Ark, avec le producteur de quelques-unes des plus grandes icônes du reggae, Lee « Scratch » Perry, il est réalisé en collaboration avec le collectif de musiciens de ce dernier, les Upsetters.

The Congos – Back In The Black Ark (2010)
