Paru en 1969 sur le label Uni Records (filiale de MCA), Bodine est l’unique album de ce groupe californien underground, aujourd’hui culte parmi les amateurs de heavy psych. Mené par le chanteur-guitariste Bobby Boden (d’où le nom du groupe), l’album mêle blues-rock abrasif, guitares fuzz saturées et ambiance garage électrique. Le son cru et les compositions directes font de Bodine un condensé de proto-hard rock, proche des premiers Grand Funk Railroad ou Blue Cheer. Un disque sans fioritures, viscéral et tranchant, à la frontière du psyché rugueux et du hard rock balbutiant.

Released in 1969 on Uni Records (a MCA subsidiary), Bodine is the lone album by this obscure Californian band, now considered a cult favorite among heavy psych collectors. Led by singer-guitarist Bobby Boden (hence the band name), the record blends raw blues-rock, saturated fuzz guitars, and a garage-psych edge. With its gritty tone and no-nonsense songwriting, Bodine sits at the crossroads of proto-hard rock and heavy psych, evoking early Grand Funk or Blue Cheer.
