Yellow Hand - Yellow Hand (1969)

Please note, this album is not a classic that will change your life, but these guys have a lot of heart in their times (mostly Stephen Stills and Neil Young) and they played with more enthusiasm than the most groups of the moment. Produced by Dallas Smith in 1969, the album was produced in Golden West Studios. It would be easy to draw a comparison with an album 'lost' Buffalo Springfield. It would actually not a bad description, although the album sounds more like a version of Poco with Paul Cotton and Rusty Young who have decided to switch to rock, rather than continue their country-rock very stereotyped. There are also choirs reminiscent (of course) CSN. As mentioned, times two songs of Neil Young 'Down To the Wire' and 'Sell Out' and four new songs of Stephen Stills are particularly successful. The few vocal harmonies (impeccable) and the excellent solo guitar of Pat Flynn (who actually recalls the work of Stills), deserve the interest of fans of US soft rock.

Attention, cet album n'est pas un grand classique qui va changer votre vie, mais ces gars-là ont mis beaucoup de coeur dans leurs reprises (essentiellement de Stephen Stills et Neil Young) et ils ont joué avec plus d'enthousiasme que la plupart des groupes du moment. Produit par Dallas Smith en 1969, l'album a été produit dans Golden West Studios. Il serait facile de dresser une comparaison avec un album 'perdu' de Buffalo Springfield. Ce ne serait en fait pas une mauvaise description, bien que l'album sonne plus comme une version de Poco avec Paul Cotton et Rusty Young qui auraient décidé de passer au rock, plutôt que de poursuivre leur country-rock très stéréotypé. Il y a aussi des choeurs qui évoquent (bien entendu) CSN. Comme mentionné, les reprises, deux chansons de Neil Young 'Down To the Wire' et 'Sell Out' et quatre chansons inédites de Stephen Stills sont particulièrement réussies.  Les quelques harmonies vocales (impeccables) et l'excellente guitare solo de Pat Flynn (qui rappelle effectivement le travail de Stills), méritent tout l'intérêt des fans de soft rock US.
