Avec Special Delivery, sorti en 1978, 38 Special poursuit son ancrage dans le Southern Rock, mais affine son jeu en proposant un son plus travaillé et des compositions plus abouties. Released in 1978, Special Delivery finds 38 Special further developing their Southern Rock roots with more polished sound and tighter songwriting. While the influence of Lynyrd Skynyrd remains present, the band starts to carve out its own identity, blending energetic rock, vocal harmonies, and well-executed guitar solos. This album helped solidify their place in the vibrant Southern scene of the late 1970s.
