Deuxième album solo d’Alan Hull, figure majeure du folk rock britannique avec le groupe Lindisfarne, Squire est sorti en 1975 sur le label Warner Bros. Ce projet est né de la musique écrite pour la pièce télévisée éponyme Squire diffusée en 1974, dans laquelle Hull tenait aussi le rôle principal. L’album, produit par Hull, mêle folk mélodique et rock aux touches raffinées, avec des arrangements parfois orchestraux. On y retrouve des influences empruntées aux Kinks, à John Lennon période solo et à Electric Light Orchestra.

Originally composed as the soundtrack for the BBC television play Squire, featuring Hull in the lead role, the album blends melodic folk and refined rock styles, with occasional orchestral arrangements. The music reflects influences from The Kinks, solo-era Lennon, and early ELO.

Quantum Jump is a British band from the 1970s. It was composed of Rupert Hine, singer and pianist Mark Warner, guitarist, bassist John G. Perry and percussionist Trevor Morais. The group released the albums Quantum Jump in 1976, Barracuda in 1977 and Mixing in 1979.Quantum Jump's sound was a hybrid of fusion, funk, and jazz rock. The first album was written and arranged in 1973-1974, and recorded (with equipment hired from Air London) at Farmyard. Hine produced the sessions, with Steve Nye as sound engineer.
