This cursed album of a band that is as much part of the great forgotten sixties. The group was born from the ashes of Buffalo Springfield spurred Canadian drummer Dewey Martin. Indeed it wishes to mount the New Buffalo Springfield that Stephen Stills forbid him through the courts. The group is composed in addition to Martin, David Price on rhythm guitar, Randy Fuller on bass, and Bob 'BJ' Jones on lead guitar. Cet album maudit d'un groupe qui l'est tout autant fait partie de ces grands oubliés des sixties. Le groupe naît des cendres du Buffalo Springfield sous l'impulsion du batteur canadien du groupe, Dewey Martin. En effet ce dernier souhaite monter les New Buffalo Springfield ce que Stephen Stills lui interdira par voie de justice. Le groupe est alors composé en plus de Martin, de David Price à la guitare rythmique, Randy Fuller à la basse, et de Bob "BJ" Jones à la lead guitar. Le groupe rejoint par Don Poncher à la batterie est vite signé en 1969 sur Atlantic par un Ahmet Ertegun flairant toujours les bons coups et ce malgré les doutes de la maison de disques. Joey Newman chanteur/guitariste au sein notamment de Don & The Good Times complète le groupe. Son talent d'écriture et son jeu de guitare apportant l'élément qui manquait au groupe pour prendre son envol. Le groupe ainsi constitué décide de se tester en prenant la route durant six semaines. C'est durant cette période que le groupe peaufine les morceaux qui figureront sur l'album. Lorsque le groupe entre en studio, il décide d'enregistrer ses morceaux en live, ce parti-pris est pour beaucoup dans l'ambiance générale du disque. Pour parfaire le tableau, les Blue Mountain Eagle enregistrent avec l'ingénieur du son Bill Halverson connu pour ses travaux sur Déjà Vu de Crosby Still Nash & Young la même année. Le résultat est magistral. Tant dans la grande qualité des compositions que dans leur grande variété.
